Thomas Rotherham College is the largest sixth form college provider in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. We have a tradition of achievement and aim to provide a future of opportunity to all our students. An opportunity has arisen to recruit an enthusiastic and high-quality leader to the post of  Head of Faculty for Learning Support and Student Wellbeing.

The Faculty of Learning Support & Student Wellbeing plays a critical role in tailoring individual support programmes for learners with a range of additional needs. The successful applicant will have the vision and energy to lead an experienced and committed team in further enhancing the college’s support for students’ academic progress and well-being.

Housed in a dedicated suite of rooms, including a newly-developed Flexible Learning Centre (which will offer bespoke provision for some of the region’s most vulnerable learners), the faculty consists of 6 members of staff, all of whom offer specialised support, built around the needs of our learners.

Candidates must be educated to degree level and hold a PGCE/PGCE Post 16 with QTS and another appropriate and equivalent teaching qualification in literacy, numeracy or ESOL. While it is not essential that applicants be a qualified SENCo, this would be viewed favourably. Experience and understanding of the unique challenges of working with and supporting post-16 learners is critical to success in this role.

All staff are required to work in a way that encourages a positive work environment that is solution focused and proactive for all.  We offer a positive working environment, we care about our students and we care about our staff, all of whom know that and appreciate that.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of this, contribute to this culture and develop it further.

Closing date for receipt of applications is Wednesday 4 May at 12noon. Interviews will be held on Tuesday 10 May. Applications are via our online application portal on our website at https://www.inspiretrust.uk/thomas-rotherham-college-vacancies/
