We are looking for a well-qualified candidate who will join an enthusiastic, supportive and successful school as a Careers Advisor. Applicants must possess the following:
QCF level 6 Qualification in Careers Guidance and/or Diploma in Careers Guidance and/or Qualification in Careers Guidance and/or NVQ4 Advice and Guidance.
At Oakwood High School, the careers provision sits within the MAP (Making Aspirations Possible) platform, which provides careers advice, guidance and education and Personal, Social, Emotional and Health education and guidance. The post holder will be required to work within the school to deliver careers advice and guidance to pupils through a mixture of one-to-one support as well as group work conducted either as part of the tutorial system or to individual groups. As part of this service, the post holder will need to liaise closely with Subject Lead for MAP, Student Support Staff and with teaching staff. The Trust works closely with partner schools and colleges, so as to advise all pupils of Oakwood High School of the appropriate course choices and pathways individual to their needs.
A significant majority of Oakwood High School pupils go on to Higher Education and / or training, so knowledge of the progress systems is essential. The post holder will be required to work closely with pupils and staff in order to raise the awareness of the options open to them post 16.
This is a post requiring a flexible individual with effective team working and communication skills. The Student Support teams at Oakwood High School work closely with the wider body of staff and external providers to provide an efficient and user friendly service for the Trust.
